Kathryn Ray is a Richmond, VA based multi-disciplinary artist with a BFA in photography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ray works largely in studio based digital portraiture, 35mm film photography, mixed media collage, and screen printing. Her work functions as a critique of idealized suburban living through the exploration of themes of conventional gender roles, the dichotomy of attraction and repulsion, and the transmutation and reclamation of socially codified iconography.
